明清通俗小说中“比武招亲”模式的历史演变和读者接受

摘要:

“比武招亲”从历史进入文学的过程中逐渐模式化,而明清小说和清末鼓词面貌殊异,从繁到简、由雅到俗,可见案头阅读和场上表演的书写策略区别。在婚姻自主和女强男弱的表象之下,“比武招亲”内里仍是传统的价值观念和叙事话语,实为“遇仙”模式的延续。“比武招亲”的“遇仙”叙事和圣母书写根植于西王母神话原型,而民间对“比武招亲”的接受也从传统心理走向新的婚姻和性别观念。在明清俗文学的共同建构中,“比武招亲”的接受从文学深入到了文化层面。

Abstract:

The motif of “marriage by martial arts contest” had gradually become formalized as it transitioned from history into literature. However,Ming and Qing popular novels and late Qing drum lyrics present distinct features,evolving from complexity to simplicity and from elegance to popular taste,reflecting differences in strategies for deskbound reading versus oral performance. Beneath the surface of marital autonomy and female superiority over males,“marriage by martial arts contest” still embodies traditional values and narrative discourse,essentially continuing the“encountering an immortal” motif. The “encountering an immortal” narrative and the portrayal of a holy mother figure in “marriage by martial arts contest” are rooted in the mythological archetype of the Queen Mother of the West.Meanwhile,public reception of this motif shifted from traditional psychology towards new concepts of marriage and gender. Within the joint construction of Ming and Qing popular literature,the reception of “marriage by martial arts contest” deepened from the literary level to the cultural level.
