“模仿美的自然”:夏尔·巴托的艺术模仿论探幽

摘要:

夏尔·巴托在《归结为同一原理的美的艺术》中提出艺术模仿论以及建基于此的艺术分类体系。其艺术模仿论的核心观点是天才模仿“美的自然”创作出“美的艺术”,创作阶段天才处于热情状态,以及艺术为趣味而生,趣味是艺术的裁判。虽然巴托理论中存有不可忽视的矛盾,同时由克里斯泰勒确认的巴托在现代艺术体系中的地位也颇受质疑,但必须承认巴托在艺术概念发展史中起到了重要推动作用。

Abstract:

In The Fine Arts Reduced to a Single Principle,Charles Batteux proposed the theory of artistic imitation and established an art classification system based on it. The core tenets of his imitation theory are that genius creates“fine arts” by imitating “the Beauty of Nature”,that during the creative process genius operates in a state of enthusiasm,and that art exists for the sake of taste with taste serving as art's ultimate judge. Although Batteux's theory contains undeniable contradictions,and although his position in the modern art system as affirmed by Kristeller remains subject to debate,it must be acknowledged that Batteux played a significant role in advancing the historical development of artistic concepts.
